You got this mama

I remember when I was in the hospital, on bedrest with Phoenix, the world was going crazy over a recent Measles outbreak.. I remember being so stressed and focused on not going into labor too early, that I could careless about the world around me. I had no choice but to focus on my body and protecting my baby from all the madness..

I wanted to send some encouragement to all the expecting mamas..

This COVID-19 drama is scary and I know all you want to do it protect yourself and baby. All the uncertainties may have you anxious and that’s ok. There’s not a lot of current research on how it may impact pregnant women.. but there are some things you can do to protect yourself..

(Some info from CDC - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/prevention.html)

Pregnant women should do the same things as the general public to avoid infection. You can help stop the spread of COVID-19 by taking these actions:

  • Cover your cough (using your elbow is a good technique)

  • Avoid people who are sick

  • Clean your hands often using soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer

You can find additional information on preventing COVID-19 disease at CDC’s (Prevention for 2019 Novel Coronavirus).

Here are some extra tips to create peace in your queendom,

  • As always keep yourself nourished and hydrated

  • You mental health is IMPORTANT

  • Keep your tribe in mind , when you need a shoulder to lean on

  • Listen to your body, if something doesn’t feel right, reach out to your provider & doula for extra support.

If your birth is causing some anxiety, research all of your options. If you need extra support, perhaps look into a birthing companion. We are here.

Peace mama
